IMT Hyderabad has built strong industry connect and goodwill. The institute engages with members of the corporate world at several levels:

  • Practitioner sessions: Practitioners and business leaders play an integral part in course curriculum development and delivery of each and every course being offered at IMT Hyderabad. 15% of every course is delivered by senior management professionals from corporate world.
  • Internship Program (IP): IMT Hyderabad offers a comprehensive 14 – 16 weeks IP in the intervening Summer Term between the first and second year of PGDM Program. * Critical Thinking Test (CT), Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI)

Applicants for all IMT PGDM and MBA programs must have a minimum three-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum 50 percent aggregate marks in any discipline. Applicants who are appearing for the final-year degree examination can also apply, subject to submission of all mark sheets and pass certificate to IMT’s Academic Program office at a later date. Failing to do so will result in admission being cancelled.

IMT Ghaziabad:
To apply for IMT Ghaziabad’s two year PGDM program, applicants must be registered for CAT-2017 OR XAT-2018 OR have taken/taking the GMAT (January 1, 2014 – February 28, 2018). In the case of the candidates applying on the basis of GMAT and score is not provided, processing of application will be provisional, subject to IMT receiving the official GMAT score on or before March 15, 2018.

IMT Nagpur and IMT Hyderabad:
To apply for IMT Nagpur and Hyderabad’s 2 year PGDM program, applicants must be registered for CAT-2017 OR XAT-2018 OR CMAT-2018* test OR have taken the GMAT (1st January 2014 – February 28, 2018). In case of the candidate(s) applying on the basis of GMAT and score is not provided, processing of application will be provisional, subject to IMT receiving the official GMAT score on or before March 15, 2018.

Note: CMAT-2018* test will be considered for IMT Nagpur and IMT Hyderabad Campus ONLY.

IMT shortlists applicants on basis of best score among the above mentioned tests.

IMT Dubai:
Applicants for the MBA program at IMT Dubai must have an undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s degree) from an accredited university with a CGPA of 3.0 and above on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent (50%+ overall average).
Applicants whose native language is not English are required to take an English Proficiency Test. The minimum required score for TOEFL is 550 (paper-based) and 80(internet based) or an IELTS band of 6.0.

Submitting your application

To apply to IMT, an applicant must complete the online ‘Application Form‘. There is one Common ‘Application Form‘ for all four campuses – IMT Ghaziabad, IMT Nagpur, IMT Hyderabad and IMT Dubai (August 2018 intake).

In the ‘Application Form‘ the candidate must provide educational qualifications, contact details, etc. and at least one of the following: ID for CAT-2017 OR ID for XAT-2018 OR ID for GMAT OR Roll-No for CMAT-2018*. IMT Ghaziabad will be accepting CAT OR XAT OR GMAT scores. IMT Nagpur and Hyderabad will be accepting CAT OR XAT OR GMAT OR CMAT scores. The applicant is required to fill the IDs of the entire test score he/she wishes to submit.

Note: CMAT-2018* test will be considered for IMT Nagpur and IMT Hyderabad Campus ONLY.

After completing the form, the applicant can make payment by one of three options:

1) Pay directly through Credit/Debit card or Net Banking: If the payment goes through and ‘Application Number’ is generated, the application is considered submitted. Applicants will receive a confirmation email within the next 24 hours.

2) Pay through demand draft: The applicant must make a demand draft payable to “Institute of Management Technology” payable at Ghaziabad or Delhi for the amount of Rs 2,000/-plus applicable taxes.  On the ‘Application Form‘, applicants must provide the demand draft number, name of bank, date, location of bank and amount. After providing these details, the applicant will be directed to a new window that has the details of the information submitted and the ‘tear-off’ sheet together with an ‘Application Form Number’.

Applicants should take a printout of this form and keep it for their future reference. Applicants must affix their passport-size self-attested photo to the tear-off sheet and send the demand draft along with it. Once the demand draft and tear-off sheet are received by IMT Ghaziabad, the status is automatically updated on the website. Applicants will also receive a confirmation email within the next 24 hours.

Applicants are advised to have their demand draft details ready before filling the form.

Short-listing of applicants for Critical Thinking, Group Exercise and Personal Interview process (CT-GE-PI):

This year, applicants may submit any one of test scores: CAT-2017 OR XAT-2018 OR GMAT (1st January 2014 – February 28, 2018) OR CMAT 2018(Nagpur & Hyderabad only) score. Applicants can submit more than one test score. GMAT test based candidates are required to update their test score, on or beforeMarch 15, 2018. For candidates applying on the basis of GMAT with pending scores, the processing of application will be provisional. IMT will consider the best score before making the final admit offer.

Applicants will be short-listed for CT-GE-PI round on the basis of one of the following test score available CAT 2017 OR XAT 2018 OR GMAT OR CMAT 2018 (Nagpur & Hyderabad campus) at this stage.

Applicants will be called for CT-GE-PI process only once. The candidates who have applied on the basis of more than one test score, the best score of such candidates shall be taken into the consideration at the time of Admission Offer. Please note that the CT-GE-PI process is common for all campuses.

Kindly note:
Short-listed applicants will be called for the CT-GE-PI round at the center/venue they have selected/will select in Common ‘Application Form‘ and on the date and time which they will select through the CT-GE-PI Schedule Form, which will be available on IMT’s Admissions Portal and enabled for specific time period in the month of January 2018.

Admissions Decision:
Admission decisions will be made after the CT-GE-PI process is conducted and admission offers will be made to the selected applicants.

All the selected candidates will be provided information on fees, schedule, accommodation, etc.

Course start date:
All PGDM programs for academic year 2018 commences in June 2018. The IMT Dubai 2 year MBA program commences in August 2018.

IMT will conduct the CT-GE-PI process in February 2018 for shortlisted candidates from the IMT Common Application form for its final selection process.

I. The Critical Thinking Test
After arrival and registration of the shortlisted candidates, there will be a 30 minute long Critical Thinking Test, which will evaluate the candidate on three parameters – critical thinking, written communication skills and innovation & creativity.

II. Group Exercise
After the critical thinking test, the candidates will be formed into small groups and will perform a Group Exercise. The group will be given a problem to solve or a task to perform, which they must do together with discussion among group members. For instance, they might be asked to do a short case study, solve a puzzle, or solve a business problem. This will take approximately 30 minutes and will evaluate the candidate on four parameters – contribution of ideas, leadership potential, interpersonal skills and communication & attitude.

III. Personal Interview
After the Group Exercise, the candidate will have a personal interview of approximately 15 minutes, during which he/she will be evaluated on four parameters: academic orientation, communication skills, versatility (extra-curricular activities / general awareness), as well as values & maturity. Candidates With work experience will be additionally evaluated on the relevance of their work experience in relation to the PGDM program.

The final merit of the candidate will be a cumulative weighted average which has the Academic Scores, Work Experience and the scores obtained during the CT-GE-PI process.

Both merit and campus score cut offs will be the basis of selection for IMT campuses, i.e. Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Dubai

If I choose to submit more than one type of score (example CAT, GMAT plus XAT) will I be required to pay double

No you are not required to pay double fee. You fill in only one IMT Application form and you pay Rs 2000/- for the application fee, irrespective of the number of tests you take. IMT considers the best score among available test scores before giving out final offer to candidates. You have to enter one test (Roll No/ID), if applicable. For example, if you are applying on the basis of CAT 2016 OR XAT 2017 test, enter CAT OR XAT ID. You also have the option of submitting other test scores as well. If you are applying ONLY on the basis of GMAT OR CMAT and have not yet registered for test, you can put the test name only in the particular section. Once you have registered for the test, you can edit your Application Form by logging in from the IMT Admissions Portal.

What factors are considered in short-listing applicants for interview

For IMT Ghaziabad, applicants are short-listed for the CT-GE-PI process (please look at Admissions Criterion and process for details of same) based on one of the following admitted scores: CAT 2017 OR XAT 2017 OR valid GMAT scores. GMAT score (1st January 2013 to 31 March 2017).

Are there any sectional cut-offs while short listing for interviews

IMT considers the aggregate scores and does not have separate sectional cut-offs when short-listing applicants for CT-GE-PI process.

What are the different factors considered in making a final offer

The following factors are considered in making a final offer: Academic record, Performance during the CT-GE-PI process and overall profile. Experienced candidates are further evaluated on the relevance and quality of their work experience.

What is CT-GE-PI Process

IMT will conduct the CT-GE-PI process in February 2017 for shortlisted candidates from the IMT Common Application form for its final selection process. The process has the below three components:

I. The Critical Thinking Test

How to convert CGPA into percentage

1. Please follow your university/institution stated rule for conversion of CGPA into percentage.
2. In case your university/institution does not have any scheme or rule to convert CGPA into percentage, the same can be done by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.

How to calculate percentage in 10th and 12th standard

Please mention aggregate percentage of marks for all subjects (including optional subjects) irrespective of your Board regulations.
Please note: DO NOT TAKE YOUR BOARD RULES OR OTHER RULES USED BY YOU EARLIER WHILE CALCULATING PERCENTAGE. YOU ARE TO USE THE ABOVE RULE WHICH CLEARLY STATES THAT ALL SUBJECTS INCLUDING YOUR OPTIONAL SUBJECTS ARE TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION WHILE CALCULATING YOUR 10TH AND 12TH STANDARD PERCENTAGE.
For example, if you have studied 7 subjects INCLUDING ALL optional subjects, all 7 subjects must be taken into consideration irrespective of your board rules and regulations.

When will I be asked about my preferences for Programs

You have to enter the Campus and Program preferences at the time of online application.

How do we submit copies of CAT, XAT, CMAT and GMAT score

CAT 2016 and XAT 2017 scores are provided to IMT by test conducting agency.
For GMAT score you will have to provide official GMAT score. Official score can be provided to IMT through GMAC, in case admitted at IMT. For the purpose of Application processing, GMAT score need to be updated through IMT Admissions Portal by 15 April 2017. Application will be processed provisionally.
Applicants need to Email the scanned copy of their CMAT 2017/GMAT to pgdm@imthyderabad.edu.in .

How do I know which scores to submit

You can choose to submit more than one score. IMT will choose the best score before giving out the admission offer.

No. Once your online payment goes through and your ‘Application Number’ is generated, your application is considered complete. You do not have to post/email anything to IMT.

No, you can not appear more than once in selection process.

Why Identification Document details are required

Identification document details are needed in order to verify the applicants as well as for prevention of fraudulent activities. The identification of candidate will be done through Identification document during the admission process. Candidate has to provide any one identification document details of the following. The ONLY ID proof/s which are accepted by IMT are:
1. PAN Card
2. Passport
3. Valid Driving License
4. Voter’s ID card
5. Aadhar Card

The above has to be of the applicant who is applying to IMT. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ID PROOF OF PARENTS, RELATIVES, and SIBLINGS etc. in any stage of the admissions process

Does IMT Hyderabad have links with banks for student loans

Yes. Currently we have links with Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank and HDFC Credila. Applicants need to visit the branches of these banks directly with Admissions offer letters (if offered admissions in any campus of IMT) to avail the loan facilities.
