Hyderabad, 15th August, 2018: Institute of Management Technology, Hyderabad celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with great joy and enthusiasm. The national flag was hoisted by the Director, Dr.D.V.Ramana, which was followed by a speech and the rendition of the National Anthem.
“War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength”. With reference to literature, the Director remarked that slavery is predominant in the corporate world and that to ward off the obscurity of ignorance the most powerful weapon available with all aspiring leaders of tomorrow is knowledge. He then presented each member of the housekeeping and security staff with a token of appreciation and gratitude, while they marched with pride and honour.
Antragna-The cultural club of IMT-H organized a cultural program, keeping the audience engaged and vibrant. Dhwani-The Music Team and Dhanak-The Dance Team performed the evergreen songs of patriotism, adding a melodious vibe to the event. Navrang-The drama team enacted their brilliant interpretation of how the manifestation of patriotism has changed over the years.
Coming up with a surprise event of T-Shirt painting, Tassavur-The Creative House of IMT-H encouraged the faculty and students to bring out their creative side and contribute to the society with colours, selling the t-shirts at a marginal profit and donating the proceeds for social causes. The Director, faculty members, and students extended their support to the event by purchasing t-shirts made in tricolour. The crowd was all smiles, warmth, and laughter.
Pahel-The Social Club organized an event for the working, security and hospitality staff, serving them with lunch as a sign of our appreciation and respect. For their recreation, the club arranged interesting competitive games on their day off duty.
“At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will wake to life and freedom.” With these words, Altius-The Sports club sought to build synergies between the junior and senior teams by conducting friendly matches for Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Basketball. The crowd cheered on and kept the enthusiasm flowing throughout the day.
The day resonated with the true spirit of IMT Hyderabad. Every batch constitutes students from diverse states, cultures, perspectives, and personalities. If there is one thing which holds everyone together, it is the sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves. It is to come together and build something stronger. We hope the same sentiment runs through every individual of the country for years to come.
