Hyderabad, 2nd December 2020: Institute of Management Technology, Hyderabad takes great pride in the success of its recently held annual event, the Virtual Tree Plantation Drive “VAN UTSAV.” IMT Hyderabad remains committed towards its social responsibilities alongside being a forerunner in academia. The event, an initiative by Dr. M. Venkateshwarlu, Director - IMT Hyderabad, was a week-long plantation drive and was organized by PAHEL – the CSR club of IMT Hyderabad.
The drive was organized with the objective of maintaining ecological balance, improving air quality and climate amelioration, addressing environmental concerns such as global warming and deforestation. The event commenced with an inaugural address by our Director, Dr. M. Venkateshwarlu emphasizing the contribution of IMT Hyderabad towards making the planet a greener place. He also accentuated the importance of nurturing and protecting the plants to be instilled in everyone as a way of life. It was followed by a brief address by Prof. (Dr.) Tumpa Dey, Chairperson – PAHEL wherein she enlightened us with a few words on the importance of tree plantation by virtue of its contribution to preserving the environment and being socially responsible for the environment. She also highlighted the vision of IMT Hyderabad in driving this event to contribute towards creating a greener and safer planet to live.
The event also included a short quiz wherein the participants had to answer questions pertaining to the plants, flowers, CSR activities, and a Pictionary round wherein the participants had to guess a flower image. This was followed by the volunteers planting different varieties of saplings. The event witnessed participation in large numbers by students, faculty, and staff, and the initiative was appreciated and well received by one and all.
According to Upasana, a student of the batch of 2020-22, “We all are connecting with each other in this pandemic. But Pahel brought an event to show how important it is to connect with nature. I never imagined a virtual tree plantation drive could be conducted online, and it would be so much fun! The happiness I felt after this event is priceless. Thank you, Team Pahel, for organizing such a great event. This team once again made us realize the significance of nature, a beautiful smile on our face, and a happy heart.”
