Aurobindo PG Certification Launch

IMT Hyderabad launched the PG Certification in Leadership program coined as "Auro Astra" for Aurobindo executives in collaboration with the Aurobindo Pharma L&D team. Suditi Prasad of batch 2022-24, the host, commenced the program by welcoming the Board Members of Aurobindo Pharma Ltd (APL). The inaugural lamp was lit by the Director and Dean of IMT Hyderabad, along with the Board Members of APL present for the ceremony. The event proceeded with Saraswati Vandana sung by Anagha Menon of batch 2021-23.

In the welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Sarath Babu, Chairperson of Executive Education, IMT Hyderabad, congratulated all the participants. He stated that the pharma ecosystem has been growing in India, and pharma exports accounted for more than 16 billion dollars for FY 19-20. He mentioned that the total foreign investment in the pharma industry in India is around 34 billion dollars, accounted till August 2021. He also cited that the Indian government supports the country's growing pharma sector. The participants were then addressed by Mr. UNB Raju, Senior Vice President HR, APL. He elaborated that this was not the right time to relax and stated the need to sharpen our skillset to take it to the next level.

Mr. Subramanian Santhanam, CFO, APL, then discussed Aurobindo Pharma’s plans to invest Rs. 3500 crores in the API business upcoming this fiscal year. The event continued with the address of Mr. S. Damodharan, COO, APL, who congratulated all the selected participants and recommended they utilize this handcrafted program to learn how to manage people, time, and change. He shed light on the importance of actions taken that would support growth. During his oration, Mr. Ravinath Shetty, Associate President, APL, informed that the job environment had changed drastically from 30 years ago, wherein the job was a necessity. He mentioned that job seekers are looking for three things; Respect, Variety, and New Learning that they receive at their workplace. He spoke about the rising cost of raw materials since Covid and the dependence of India’s pharma industry on China.

In his address, Dr. Parven Kumar Luthra, Chief Scientific Officer for Research and Development, APL, stated that leadership is a skill that can be acquired through training and knowledge. The Dean, Dr. Venkata Chakrapani C, congratulated both Aurobindo and IMT team for successfully initiating the event and wished the participants a great experience during their stay on campus. Dr. K. Sriharsha Reddy, Director, IMT Hyderabad, congratulated the participants on beginning their new journey and divulged the importance of this program which would help them excel for the next 15-20 years. He also mentioned the World Economic Report of 2020 and how soft skills/people skills were more important than technical skills. Dr. Romina Mathew, Professor, IMT Hyderabad, and Mr. Suhasram Chadhuve, GM-Learning Leadership Culture & OD, briefed everyone about the program Auro Astra. Ms. Susan Thomas, Manager of Executive Education, IMT Hyderabad, proposed the vote of thanks and formally concluded the event.
