Hyderabad, August 26th, 2018: With the weather getting better in the city, the course was in favor for the multitude of participants of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon 2018 which was flagged off from the HITEX Expo ground, on the Sunday morning of 26th August. IMT Hyderabad, a premier B-school of the state of Telangana, took active participation to “Run for a Cause” to aid different charitable organizations which receive financial support through this annual event. This year, the Institute took the initiative to send student volunteers for the 5 km run as well on 25th August, 2018, to assist as track guides and medal distributors.
IMT Hyderabad had more than 100 participants consisting of students and faculty members running the half marathon (21 km) and 10 km run. The event has always been instrumental in connecting the past, present and perhaps the future aspirants of the Institute.
The course was tough with the start point at HITEX Expo ground, but the seniors paced the race for the freshmen and at regular trail intersections, a field of runners bearing the IMT logo were noticeable as the Institutes’ participants pushed themselves forward at par with the amateur and professional runners towards the finishing line at the Gachibowli Stadium.
From the start to the end of the event, the participants exhibited a lot of passion and true sportsmanship by helping one another through the arduous course. As the runners entered the Gachibowli Stadium for their last lap of the race, the Institutes’ students gave it their all at the last bend to cross the finish line with a sense of pride knowing that we are running ahead for a better tomorrow. The students cheered their batchmates right till every IMTian crossed the finish line. Medals were handed out to the participants in acknowledgement of completing the race.
As the race ended, our participants couldn’t help but be elated on their accomplishment and true to the adage by which the Institute dwells- “You don’t stop when you are tired, you stop when you are done”.
