The 73rd Independence Day Celebrations

Where there is righteousness in the heart, there is beauty in the character. When there is beauty in the character, there is harmony in the home. When there is harmony in the home, there is order in the nation. When there is order in the nation, there is peace in the world.”

A.P.J Abdul Kalam

The Flag Hoisting Ceremony

On the 73rd Independence Day, IMT Hyderabad woke up to see the entire campus decorated with flags, students dressed up in ethnic attire and the entire crowd in the highest of spirits. Dr. Sriharsha Reddy (Dean Academics) hoisted the national flag in front of the Shri. Mahendra Nath statue which was followed by the singing of the national Anthem by all the students and staff.

The Dean further addressed us on how, together, we can strive and free this country from economic poverty, ecological neglect and social disharmony. He also stressed on how the freedom of the nation feels incomplete until we bring about ecological sustainability by adding social and economic value.

He further congratulated team Antragna for taking the initiative to organize all the events for the day. This was followed by the distribution of sweets among the students and we were then asked to move to the Amphitheatre to witness a cultural extravaganza organized by Antragna.

One individual may die for an idea but that idea will live on after his death and incarnate itself in a thousand lives."

-Netaji Subash Chandra Bose

The notion of an ‘Independent India’ and the heroes who had contested to make this notion real  were commemorated in grandeur by the students of IMT Hyderabad.
